We, the Staff at Elm Hill Marina, have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help meet the needs of those visiting our establishment.
Please feel free to call us if none of the frequently asked questions below cover your concern. Someone from our staff will be glad to serve you.

  • Where can I park?
If you are launching a boat and have a trailer on your vehicle you must park in the Launch ramp parking area. If you launch a boat and the launch ramp is full, you can park at the top of the hill. The launch ramp and parking lot is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year (except for maintenance or special occasions). The fee is $5.00 per day. Annual permits are available for a charge of $50.00 at the ships store.

If you are renting a boat you can unload in the main parking lot at the bottom of the hill and then you must park in the gravel visitors parking lot on the west end of the marina property. If you are a visitor, you must park in the visitors lot. The entrance to this lot is halfway down the hill on the left as you come into the marina. No trailers are allowed in this lot. There is no charge to park in the visitors lot.

The bottom paved parking lot is reserved for slip renters only on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. You must have a current “Elm Hill Marina” slip renter permit to park in this lot on these days or you may be towed.
  • When does the Marina open for the season?
Except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years holiday weekends, Elm Hill Marina is open year round from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday, and from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. In the spring, summer, and fall, hours are typically extended on weekdays to as late as 7:00 pm , and from 7:00am to 8:00 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Holidays.
  • Is there somewhere to park my boat overnight?
Yes, Elm Hill Marina has transient space at our courtesy dock available year round on a first come first serve basis. The charge is $15.00 per night up to 20 foot and .75 cents for every foot very foot thereafter. This does not include the $5.00 per day launch and park fee for your vehicle and trailer. Come to the ships store to arrange for overnight boat parking.

  • Can I get a fishing license and renew my boat registration at Elm Hill Marina?
Yes, you can do both. We also have live bait, and tackle available in our ships store.

  • Do you stock groceries in your ships store?
No, we have snacks, cold drinks, and ice, but we don’t stock any meat or grocery items. We do however have
Water toys, basic boating needs like batteries, coolers, bait buckets and bait, T-shirts, sunglasses, paper towels,
boat plugs, ski ropes, tubes, cigarettes, etc…think of us as a boaters convenience market on the lake.

  • Do you have a mechanic on duty?
Boat service and repair are a specialized field. For this reason we do not maintain a service department for
repair or maintenance, therefore we do not have a mechanic on staff. However, we can recommend someone to
help you in most situations so feel free to give us a call if your having a problem and we will be glad to try and
point you in the right direction.

  • Do I need reservations to rent a boat?
We don’t require a reservation but we do highly recommend it. Our rental boats get very busy in the summer.
And while you might be able to get a boat with short notice during the week, you will almost certainly need a reservation on the weekend and holidays. We would recommend reserving your boat as much as a month in advance during the summer season for a weekend or holiday rental, and at least a couple weeks for a weekday rental. All this said, if you didn’t make a reservation and want a boat, give us a call anyway. If we can accommodate you, we certainly will.

  • Can I fish at Elm Hill Marina?
We do not have a public fishing area at the marina, but there are several areas on the lake where you can easily fish from shore. One is the Elm Hill Recreation Area which is located 1/3 mile south of Elm Hill Marina on Bell Rd. There is also a day use launch ramp and picnic area there. Daily Use fee is $5.00. Some other areas on the lake are Hamilton Creek Park, the day use area next to the Dam on Bell Rd., Anderson Rd beach and picnic area, and Cooks landing on the east side of the lake. We recommend checking with these areas individually for times and fees.

  • Do you have cabins or overnight accommodations for rent?
At this time we don’t have overnight accommodations. However, we have plans for a camping area at the Elm Hill Recreation Area in the future. Be sure to watch our website for more information.
